It doesnt matter if there is some magical objective truth out there; if you can support your claim with enough reasoning, you will be able to convince people that your case is the most effective. That definitely works better than bludgeoning them with God, trying to claim that your morality is objective and should therefore be obeyed.when, in fact, if it were objective, it would be impossible to disobey.

What struck me during my recent reading was the breadth and depth of knowledge of both of these men. They both were brilliant, but apparently had quite different personalities. Whereas it would be an understatement to refer to Luther as bold (he seemed to be a fighter who didnt care about others opinions of him!), Melanchton was more timid, a peacemaker who maybe compromised even when he shouldnt have. Luther was a monk, who had big concerns about the Roman church. In particular, he was against the selling of indulgences (artifacts or so-called artifacts such as wooden pieces of the cross) to release people from purgatory). He also believed that Germans shouldnt have to pay for the building of a cathedral in Rome (sounds similar to U.S. history). Melanchton was an academic theologian who came to a more evangelical understanding of salvation under Luthers influence.

I would say that the reason why the Dolphins and Cincinnatti were better is because they had the opportunity to compete against the bottom half of the AFL teams--the Broncos, Patriots and the fading Bills as examples. Certainly there were weak teams in the NFL, but I dare say the Washington Redskins, the Lions, or the Giants would have clobbered the lower ranked teams from 1967-69 (though changes were afoot by 1971 with the ascendancy of the draft success documented above.

To the smaller point, I agree. I used to love when playoff games were at 12:30 and 4:00. I hate 8:30 playoff games. (Actually, as a Bills fan, I hate playoff games in general. What's the point?? )--I like your strategies, Doug (possibly except the minor league part). All of them seem like simple but effective ways to get some real talent, as opposed to NFL rejects. Friday night would be a good night for some football. I'd like to see it happen, as the NFL isn't the only possible football league.I'm not sure I'm fully sold on league ownership of all teams. Has parity and favoritism written all over it. Either way, I'd love to see it, especially if it's mission statement isn't to be an also-ran league.--My one scheduling idea is to be predominately on Friday night, but have one game each week on Saturday and one on Sunday. I know you'll never buy into this idea, but NOT EVERYBODY LIKES COLLEGE FOOTBALL For those who don't, this league would offer a good alternative to watching college games with their condescending commentators.Also, if you're truly going to position yourself as a serious competitor with the NFL, you should have some game presence directly at the same time. The Sunday game (which should start at either noon or 2PM on Sunday) would offer an alternative to the disgruntled fan who is tired of their locality's NFL TV offering in a given week. If the new league made a point of focusing on stuff that the NFL doesn't do well (such as officiating, and other things that fans find irritating), playing on Sunday will be necessary to gain converts. Conversely, not playing on Sunday is tantamount to waiving a white flag to the NFL.

I grew up during the same time. Marilyn was charming, talented, beautiful and smart. However, she was taken advantage of, unstable emotionally thus; vulnerable. When I purchased this third party battery I was concerned because some reviews of third party batteries (not necessarily this one) claimed that they did not fit the Sony camera. However, I had no trouble installing it and it works fine.Rating: 4 / 5

Prep Fan,I actually did learn I was wrong about that. I spoke with the Castro Valley athletic director and with GIl Lemmon and the NCS did force that game to be moved. CV wanted to play it at home, but the NCS wanted it at a larger facility. Logan was originally brought up, but CV preferred Washington because of its success there in the Rob Vares Tournament. Including this years playoff game, CV is 13-0 in games at Washington during the Nick Jones era.

I agree with one of the first postersCathy is a warm, reassuring TV presence, and I would watch her whether she was hawking kitchen gadgets, doing the weather forecast, whatever. The Turbo Cooker is still my main go-to pan in the kitchen. I also have a GT Xpress 101, and sorry to say the nonstick coating does flake off, and I have only used the plastic spatula on it. So now need to use more cooking spray. Cathy and Ron Popeil and others do sell gadgets, as much by their folksy, trustworthy characters as anything else. Yes, Cathy does remind me of a favorite aunt. But whats the harm in that? Look at how much overproduced crap programming is on TVnamely, trashy sitcoms, thinly veiled political news analysis, over-inflated sports shows Whats wrong with a little warmth and humor that comes naturally that doesnt come shrink-wrapped with logos and pre-packaged with canned laughter. If Cathy was selling stock commodity futures, it would be fun to watch!

I like to taste what is new and interesting. I got lots of good information about Gruner Veltliner from othersultimately decided it was not for me, but I did not have to taste hundreds of wines to do it. Took the advice of reasonable voices and tried a few of their favorites.
