Here's the announcement about Johnny Estrada joining the Nats. Another catcher. Apparently Jesus Flores will now be moved to minor leagues to get more playing time. And I can't believe that Ryan Zimmerman still doesn't have a contract for this season!

Tim D., I follow your point mathematically. But I dont think that either of us thinks morality = math. I do think, however, that there is something objectively wrong with the Holocaust, despite what the Nazis claimed was right. I would say that even the Nazis knew it was wrong to exterminate those people, as they intentionally set out on a campaign to redefine Jews and others as less than human (sound familiar?) before they went about the business of genocide. This is one of the major reasons, it seems to me, that the trespassers were not acquitted at the Nuremburg trials. Basically, I think, thats where we differ. I do not think that it coheres with our own moral intuitions about the real world to say that right and wrong are constructions of our own making (or societys making). Part of the confusion, I think, comes from the fact that there is not a list moral rules that I can name. This, however, is not the point. The point, I believe, is determining whether or not good and evil actually exist in any objective sense or if good and evil are matters of opinion.

This isn't my favorite song but it is a good one. Normally, I'd choose I Am The Walrus. Since the Beatles, however, are all ready well represented (Strawberry Fields, She Said, She Said), I'll go with The Boxer. Simon's acoustic guitar tracks are exquisitely detailed, expanding on the textures he wove so convincingly on Mrs. Robinson. Set upon the implacable heart beat of the kick drum, they dance and flutter like solemn butterflies. Very few major artists could get away with the opening line to this song, but Simon's delivery not only suspends mundane reality, it welcomes the listener into a story so matter-of-factly that one one simply assumes it's authenticity. Garfunkle's intimate, intuitive harmony is so finely crafted and performed that it's nearly transparent; like the guitars, it focuses attention on the song, rather than itself. The inclusion of the bass harmonica compliments and emphasizes the narrative so well, that it achieves an aura of inevitability. It is nearly impossible to imagine the song without it. Then one comes across that ephemeral guitar solo. Because the guitarist uses the volume knob or foot pedal to allow the notes to swell into being, the solo appears to glide into and out of awareness; a ghost moving serenely through the mist. Simon stated, in a long-ago interview, that he was initially opposed to an extended ending for this song. At that time, Hey Jude had just recently taken that concept to the limits of pop utility (and then some!)and he didn't want to appear to be contrived. Fortunately, Garfunkle and Halee convinced him otherwise. And so it is, that after one of Simon's most profoundly moving verses (listen to the restrained delivery on the last quatrain.....it HURTS), we are treated to layer upon layer of sonic textures, opening upon some facet of the many emotions implicit in the song. Simon DID prove his instincts were correct when, at the very end, everything drops out, save the acoustic guitars and a brief, haunting voice that seems to be singing to itself. Well, enough. P.S. I am all for adding a playmaking linebacker. You can never have enough linebackers and running a 3-4 only highlights that need. The Patriots have had good success using aging Linebackers in the past few seasons so why not take a page out of their book?

If all you are trying to do is build a truck full of backlinks with nothing to offer, what will make the reader come to your site whether no1 comment or no102. However I think it works both ways.The blogger has to have the same comitment to reading the replies as to the original blog post, and to that end should ensure the replies are as valid as the content. The atmosphere is changing rapidly out in the consumer search arena, and if the bloggers don’t run with the virtues extolled, then they will find themselves disappearing as quickly as they rose.
